At the moment I am still President of Nicox Italy, the company I founded (the other co-founder is the CEO of the French headquarters company). I am on the Board of the start-up Lay Line Genomics and we are trying to restructure the company for future growth.
I am a co-founder and Board member of Relivia, a new Dermatology company (founded end 2005). We are currently expanding our market presence and trying to raise VC money from Europe and also from Italy
In the meantime I founded a non-for-profit company to promote tourism in my new hometown – Bologna. We are making short film trailers on Bologna history and gastronomy and we are launching our first film now
Un momento particolare, che ti ha "acceso una lampadina"
During my first months at Genzyme, I had been asked to bring my PhD thesis to the company – the synthesis of a biopolymer. I was happy to have produced the first 2 grams. The CEO came to see me and asked where I saw my business unity in the next five years and I had NO idea what that meant, but somehow it turned me on and from then on I started thinking of things in terms of THE PRODUCT.
Come hai ottenuto i finanziamenti per iniziare il tuo progetto imprenditoriale?
Personal money first and foremost always – you need to believe in yourself and then international Venture Capital money leverage with local money.
Le tre qualità fondamentali di un imprenditore
- Passion !!!!!
- The ability to be flexible
- The ability to create and work in a team
- To be a “seller” and always look at the market
Qual è stato l’errore più importante che hai fatto?
Count on others to do the job !!! Using expensive expert consultants instead of just doing it yourself!!
E quale invece l’intuizione migliore?
Even a small product improvement can be a big business.
